The Nu Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. came into fruition on Wednesday, April 24, 1977. Nine black males enrolled at Old Dominion, known as “The New Birth”,sought to bring the Light of Alpha to the campus of Old Dominion University making it the Fraternity’s 471st undergraduate chapter. The founders of the Nu Theta Chapter are: Mark Davenport, Clinton Doxey, Leonard Terrell, Junius Watson, Felix Simmons, Normand Sales, John Ferguson, Calvin Morris, and Ronald Simpson.

Since its founding 30 years ago, 129 men have marched onward and upward toward the Light of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. through the Nu Theta Chapter. While undergraduates, Nu Theta Brothers have been Dean’s List students, resident assistants, officers in the Black Student Alliance, NAACP, Student Senate, R.O.T.C. and the list goes on and on. In short, the Nu Theta Chapter is dedicated to upholding the high standards of Alpha Phi Alpha
