What is the
Honor Council?
The Honor Council is an educational body of students who wish to preserve the reputation of Old Dominion University through the promotion of academic integrity. The priority of the Honor Council is to help spread the word around campus about the University's Honor System.
The Honor Council has four major duties. The first is to participate in classroom presentations that teach students and faculty which activities are considered academically dishonest, as well as the consequences of being found in violation of the Honor Code. The second duty is to provide aid to any student who is accused of violating the student code of conduct by leading them through the hearing process. The third duty involves serving on the Student Conduct Committee appeal hearings. The fourth duty is to promote the Graduation Pledge Alliance, which urges students to take into account the social and environmental ramifications of the jobs they choose.
The Honor Council also sponsors a monthly Honor Day, co-sponsors events around campus, and volunteers in the community.
